The 2024 Silver Eagle Design
Since its inception in 1986, American Silver Eagles display on the obverse the Walking Liberty design created by Adolph A. Weinman. The depiction, originally from the 1917 Half Dollar coin, portrays Lady Liberty gracefully walking toward the sun's rays. She has an American flag draped on Her shoulders. She holds oak branches in her left arm, symbolizing the country’s strength. With her right arm outstretched, she warmly welcomes those in pursuit of opportunities in America.
On the upper rim is the word "LIBERTY," while the motto "IN GOD WE TRUST" is positioned to the side, on the right face of the design. The mint year is close to the rim below.
On the reverse side, Emily Damstra brings a more natural depiction of the bald eagle, breaking away from the heraldic eagle used until 2021. Her majestic eagle clutches a branch in its talons as it soars in the air.
The outer rim of the reverse features the following inscriptions: "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. ONE DOLLAR. 1 OZ. FINE SILVER." and the motto "E PLURIBUS UNUM".
