2025 NGC MS-70 First Day of Issue 1 oz American Silver Eagle Coin

Introducing the 2025 American Silver Eagle – a silver coin that blends an iconic design and precious silver purity.

Celebrated worldwide, US Silver Eagles are struck from .999 fine silver and honor the enduring legacy of American freedom and artistry. They feature the classic Walking Liberty design on the obverse and the powerful Eagle on the reverse.

Today, you can acquire 2025 1 oz American Silver Eagle coins from SD Bullion. They were purchased from the US Mint on day #1 of their official release and graded by NGC as MS-70 coins.

The Design

The obverse reproduces Adolph A. Weinman's 1917 design of the Walking Liberty on the Hald Dollar coin.

Lady Liberty, the feminine national guise, stands her arm as she walks carrying oak and laurel branches. The American flag flies around her, and the sun rises.

The inscriptions on this side are the word “LIBERTY,” the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the year of mintage.

The reverse depicts an Eagle with free open wings in a perching movement. Engravings regarding the coin’s weight, metal content, and purity read: “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” “1 OZ,” and “FINE SILVER.” The motto “E PLURIBUS UNUM” completes the design.

An NGC MS-70 “First Day of Issue” coin

Third-party services like the NGC (Numismatic Guaranty Company) use the Sheldon Scale, which ranges from 1 to 70, as a standard for grading coins worldwide.

For NGC, a “First Day of Issue” coin is a sample purchased from its original mint on the first day of its official release and submitted to its appraisal.

MS means Mint State and corresponds to a coin issued with the same format as a widespread circulation sample. However, it has never been in circulation, so it has no sign of wear, tear, scratching, or contact with other coins. Hence, the grade 70.
