NGC/PCGS MS/SP-69 1 oz American Silver Eagle Burnished Coin - Random Year

US Silver Eagles are among the most sought-after silver coins in the world. Each coin contains 1 Troy oz of 99.9% fine silver, has a USD 1 face value, and is considered legal tender.

These specific coins are burnished Silver Eagles. The blanks used in their making underwent a special treatment process called burnishing, which cleans them from undesired oxides, resulting in a matte finish with more vivid design details.

At, you can acquire 1 oz Burnished American Silver Eagles at lower premiums. They are either graded as MS-69 by NGC or SP-69 by PCGS. They may be of varied mintages and seals, randomly taken from our stocks, according to your availability at the time of shipping.

The Obverse Design

The obverse design was initially imprinted on the 1907 Half Dollar coin.

It was designed by Adolph A. Weinman and features Lady Liberty walking towards the sun with an outstretched arm, the American flag draped over her shoulder, and oak branches in her arm.

The word “LIBERTY,” the motto “IN GOD WE TRUST,” and the year of issuance complete the design.

Reverse Type 1

The Heraldic eagle imprinted on the reverse was the original design created by the US Chief Engraver John Mercanti.

The Eagle is beneath 13 stars in the image, representing the Thirteen Original Colonies. It has the National Shield on its chest, arrows and olive branches in its talons, and a banner with "E PLURIBUS UNUM" in its beak.

The engravings "UNITED STATES OF AMERICA," "1 OZ FINE SILVER," and "ONE DOLLAR" inform the coin's face value, weight, metal content, and purity.

Reverse Type 2

Celebrating the 35th Anniversary of the American Eagle Program in 2021, a new reverse design depicts a Bald Eagle perched on a branch. Inscriptions detailing the coin’s weight, metal content, and purity surround the image, reading “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA,” “ONE DOLLAR,” “1 OZ,” and “FINE SILVER.”

Burnished Coins

A Burnished American Eagle Coin results from a “burnishing” process, hence the name. It essentially means that the blanks are cleaned from all oxides formed during the annealing and rimming process. This way, burnished coins get a satin look and a smooth surface but less reflective luster than Proof American Eagles.

A PCGS SP-69 Coin

PCGS (Professional Coins Grading Service) is widely recognized worldwide for appraising and certifying coins according to the Sheldon Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70.

SP-69 stands for Specimen-69, which describes a hybrid between Mint State and Proof with nearly imperceptible imperfections.

An NGC MS-69 Coin

NGC—Numismatic Guaranty Company grades coins submitted for appraisal using the Sheldon Scale, which ranks coins from 1 to 70.

MS stands for Mint State. MS coins have the format of business coins for widespread circulation. 69 is the grade given to coins whose flaws are almost invisible.
